The Full Story

About

My journey to becoming a doula began with the women who supported me through my own births. When I was preparing for my first child’s sudden cesarean, my former mother-in-law was a pillar of emotional support. Her presence and encouragement during that time showed me what truly matters in labor and birth—having someone by your side who listens, uplifts, and makes you feel safe.

When I later met my doula team, they knew I wanted a natural birth—but when I told them at 40 weeks that I was considering an induction out of exhaustion, they never questioned me. Instead, they educated me, guided me, and stood by my side as I made the best decision for myself. That was the first moment I truly understood what it meant to be a doula.

The lesson was reinforced during my home birth, when those very same doulas, along with my midwife, surrounded me with unwavering support as I powered through an intense and fast labor, questioning my own strength along the way. Their presence, encouragement, and belief in me carried me through, and I now consider all three of these women close friends after my births. They reminded me that birth isn't about following a set path—it's about feeling safe, heard, and supported in every choice.

This is the heart of River Valley Birth Co. I believe being a doula isn’t about teaching what the "right" birth looks like—it’s about standing beside you, no matter how your journey unfolds.

Education

I am currently working toward my doula certification, which I expect to complete in June 2025. Beyond certification, I am committed to continuous learning, spending my free time studying all aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. My goal is to bring evidence-based knowledge and holistic advice to every family I support.
